Changes to Our Online Ticket Shop

Why is the Online Ticket Shop pausing ticket sales?

For the past year, we’ve been working on a project to upgrade your Online Ticket Shop experience. Unfortunately, our current payment provider has decided to stop their services on 24 November 2025, with limited notice. This decision was outside of our control, and it means we need to pause online ticket sales sooner than planned. 


When will this happen?

From 24 November 2025, ticket sales on our Online Ticket Shop will be paused.


Can I still buy tickets?

You can still buy tickets and smartcards through the TravelMaster App, which has been making ticket buying easier since June 2023.

What about on-board smartcard pick-up?

On-board pick-up will be unavailable from 24 November 2025. 


Can I still apply for an 18–22 Discount Card?

Applications for the free 18–22 Discount Card will remain open online. Discounted tickets will continue to be available from the TravelMaster App. 


Will my existing 18–22 Discount Card still work?

The only change is that tickets can now be purchased exclusively through the App or from Ticket Machines at Interchanges. The Online Ticket Shop is no longer able to process ticket purchases.


How long will this pause last?

We’re working hard to bring you an improved online experience as soon as possible and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way. We are conscious we don't want to provide you with a date which is not set in stone and working with our supplier to confirm this.


What is the TravelMaster App? 

You can buy travel tickets quickly and conveniently using the TravelMaster App. The app provides access to our full range of tickets, allowing you to purchase them directly from your phone or from the comfort of your home.


Due to the age of the Online Ticket Shop, which was originally built well before its 2017 launch, integrating a new payment provider was assessed, but the platform has reached the end of its life. For this reason, our focus is now on improving the overall customer experience than delaying it and trying to fix an end-of-life system. 


Why can’t you keep the current system running?

The current Online Ticket Shop was ground breaking when it launched in 2017, but technology has moved on. Our payment provider’s decision to stop services left us with no choice but to close the Online Ticket Shop earlier than planned. Since finding out we've been pulling out all the stops to try and keep this up and running but third party decisions have not gone our way.


The TravelMaster App is now the best way to buy tickets quickly and securely.
